Jerash is mentioned as the ancient Greco-Roman city of Gerasa in Jordan, “the country of the Gadarenes”
The text says that Gergesha, mentioned in Matthew 8:28 as “the country of the Gadarenes,” was one of the cities of the Decapolis, the group of ten cities. It adds that classical geographers called Gergesha Gerasa. The note also lists Gerasa / Jerash, Jordan among the Decapolis cities.
